Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) is a complex (composite) detector located at CERN (Switzerland), it is made out of more than 10 subsystems (subdetectors), where each uses different particle detection and energy absorption technologies. The talk will overview such a device in full an in pieces as well as the concepts behind the operation, the talk will overview the HL-LHC program, and what will follow next (2040-ies and beyond). In addition, there will be a simplified crash course to particle (high-energy) physics, how does the nature work and what are the latest results delivered by the LHC experiments, such as CMS.
