esa academy funded training in belgium

The European Space Agency (ESA) invites bachelor's (from the third year onwards), master's, and PhD students to participate in the international training course "Space Technology and Commercialisation Workshop 2027" organized by the ESA Academy, which will take place from January 18 to 22, 2027, at the ESA Academy training facility (ESEC) in Belgium.

The five-day training is designed for students in business, engineering, natural and social sciences, industrial design, and other related fields. During the program, participants will deepen their knowledge of space technology applications across various industries, technology transfer, patenting, innovation commercialization, and entrepreneurship.

The training will be led by ESA specialists, startup founders, and industry experts. Students will work in teams, analyse real ESA patents, explore innovative technology application opportunities, and develop business models. They will also learn about funding sources, marketing strategies, and business incubation opportunities. At the end of the training, participants will pitch their business ideas and receive certificates of participation and transcripts of training results, which can be used to seek ECTS credit recognition at their university.

For selected participants, the ESA Academy will fund accommodation, meals, and reimburse up to 350 euros for travel expenses to Belgium.

Applications to participate in the program can be submitted until November 8, 2026, at 23:55 (CEST). When registering, applicants must provide a motivational letter, a curriculum vitae (CV), a recommendation from an academic supervisor or lecturer, and an academic transcript.

More detailed information about the training, participation conditions, and registration is published on the official ESA website.
