On April 13, the Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Geosciences at Vilnius University, Prof. Dr. Justina Gaidukevič, together with the scientists from the Institute of Chemistry and the Chemistry Section of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences – Dr. Inga Gabriūnaitė, Assoc. Prof. Tatjana Kochanė, Prof. Viktoras Masevičius, Assoc. Prof. Vilius Poškus, Prof. Simas Šakirzanovas, Prof. Habil. Dr. Aivaras Kareiva, Prof. Dr. Valdas Laurinavičius, Prof. (HP) Dr. Almira Ramanavičienė, and Prof. Habil. Dr. Arūnas Ramanavičius – visited the Customs Laboratory.

The Customs Laboratory conducts examinations of product samples and specimens, and provides conclusions to customs authorities, other state and municipal institutions and agencies regarding the classification of goods. The Laboratory also identifies narcotic, psychotropic, toxic, and hazardous substances, as well as other items prohibited or restricted from being imported into or exported from the Republic of Lithuania.

The Director of the Customs Laboratory, Lina Baltokienė, and Senior Adviser Edita Sapagovienė introduced the participants to the research conducted at the Customs Laboratory — a presentation and a tour of the Laboratory took place.

"During the visit to the Customs Laboratory, we get to know the institution's activities, viewed modern laboratory equipment, and discussed possible directions for long-term cooperation," shares Dean Prof. Dr. J. Gaidukevič.

The participating scientists were happy to see familiar faces – graduates of the VU Faculty of Chemistry and Geosciences also work at the Customs Laboratory of the Republic of Lithuania.
