PREPARATION OF FINAL THESIS

The final thesis is prepared according with those documents:

Regulations for the preparation, defense and storage of research papers of students studying at Vilnius University

Recommendations for the clearance of works, citation and presentation of literature and other sources

Thesis templates

The student prepares the final thesis honestly and independently. The principles of academic honesty in scientific activities and signs of plagiarism are outlined in items 18 and 19 of the Vilnius University Code of Academic Ethics.

SUBMISSION OF THESES TO VUSIS AND WARRANTY

The submission of the final thesis and its metadata to VUSIS is conducted in accordance with the procedure of administration of written works placed in the study information system of Vilnius University.

If there are appendices in the final thesis, they must be combined with the main part of the work. Only one document in PDF format is uploaded to VUSIS.

Only by uploading the work to VUSIS is possible to complete the warranty. By completing the warranty, the student confirms that the thesis is prepared independently and honestly. The application for embargo period required for the thesis is provided in the warranty. The necessity and duration of the embargo period (which may not exceed 60 months) must be discussed with the supervisor.

The thesis must be uploaded to VUSIS not later than 10 working days before the day of the final thesis defense.

The printed thesis and warranty are not provided to the department.

Instructions for submitting the final thesis to VUSIS.

AUTHORIZATION OF SUPERVISOR TO DEFEND THE THESIS

AUTHORIZATION OF SUPERVISOR TO DEFEND THE THESIS

The final thesis can only be defended if the supervisor determines that it is properly prepared, written in the correct language, and meets all other requirements for the thesis.

After the student uploads the final thesis to VUSIS, the supervisor performs a computer check of the independence of the final work using EPDS (Electronic plagiarism detection subsystem). After the verification process, a final thesis review report is generated, detailing the percentage of overlap between the submitted document and other electronic documents. If any overlaps are detected, comments are provided.

The decision of the thesis supervisor to allow the defense of the final thesis is confirmed by VUSIS (marking the mark allowed / not allowed to defend) not later than 6 working days before the date of the defense of the final thesis.
